Useful Tips for Keeping a Factory Floor Cool
Wednesday, November 21, 2018

The hot and grueling months of summer might have passed, but in a factory, the temperature always needs to be brought down to a lower level because of the latent heat released by the heavy machinery and equipment. This is because most factories run their operations around the clock, which means the equipment and machinery running in the factory barely gets any time to cool down. As a result, the temperature on a factory floor remains high.

The high temperature on a factory floor is not good for either the machinery or the workers. In fact, excessive heat can cause the machinery to get damaged or break down completely. That makes maintaining the temperature on a factory floor all the more important.

Here are a few useful tips that will help factory managers to maintain the temperatures on a factory floor at a low level and provide a cool environment for both the machinery and workers to operate in.

1 - The Use of Evaporative Coolers

For factories with low humidity environment, factory managers must insist on installing evaporative coolers that can cool the air and bring the temperature down to 20 degrees. Moreover, evaporative coolers are environment-friendly and energy efficient. The portable models of evaporative coolers can be placed in the areas of a factory that are extremely hot.

However, evaporative coolers are not suitable for factories with high humidity environment. They end up making the air more humid instead of cooling it.

2 - Install Central Air Conditioning

For a factory with a high humidity environment, central air conditioning is the best option. It would be able to bring the temperature down by cooling the air. Air conditioning will not only cool the air but also dehumidify it. For particular spots that need cooling, portable air conditioners are an affordable option. That’s why spot coolers are used in data centers and for cooling the equipment that needs a precise temperature maintained at all times without fail. However, the best option for cooling a factory floor is installing large HVAC cooling systems.

3 - Cooling the Zones

It’s highly likely that not all areas on a factory floor require the same level of cooling. There must be some areas that get extremely hot and require air conditioning more than other areas on the floor. That’s why it’s very important to install programmable thermostats in different zones. These thermostats can be set to maintain different temperatures in different zones according to the need.

If you’re concerned about what must be done to cool your factory floor, then you must give a thought to more than one available option. Consulting a professional HVAC company can help you a lot in this regard. If you’re looking for some viable options to cool your factory floor, contact Crane Heating & Air and seek advice today.
