Why you’ll find Crane Heating and Air Conditioning on Angie’s List

If you scroll to the bottom of any page on Crane’s website you’ll see a list of various accreditations, memberships, and affiliations.  We display these as an exercise in good faith to earn a customer’s trust and also because we are proud of the achievements of our company and technicians.  But we also realize, that some of these affiliations mean little to those who don’t work in the industry, which is why we’ve been taking some time to explain the significance of a few of these symbols.

By now, most people are familiar with Angie’s List.  Consumers can choose from free or paid subscriptions that allow them to view and add ratings, reviews, and pricing for local businesses.  The reviews are submitted by legitimate customers and are supposed to give you an unbiased, unpaid, accurate perspective on companies for hire in your area.  However, Angie’s List has come under fire in the past few years for not being quite as unbiased as advertised.

It seems that the search results are not entirely random after all.  Inquiring consumers might be confused by the explanation offered on the Angie’s List website: “… providers who are highly rated and offer Angie's List discounts are returned in random order at the top of search results.”  To clarify, Angie’s List discounts – indicated by “Offers Coupon” on the listing - can only be offered by paying advertisers.  And while they may be in “random order,” they are still listed first above all other non-paid companies.  Many have also expressed frustration that offering preference to paid advertisers and then not clearly identifying them, as Google and others channels do, conflicts with the unbiased premise of Angie’s List.

So why is Crane Heating and Air Conditioning on Angie’s List?  To start, listings can be added by anyone.  Even if we did not want to participate in Angie’s List, a listing would still be created on our behalf.  More importantly, we value the feedback of our customers and we will gladly participate in a venue that encourages honest reviews.  We may not always offer discounts on Angie’s List, but we aim to maintain affordable prices for all our customers, regardless of the method by which they found us.

At Crane Heating and Air Conditioning, we strive to provide all of the tools necessary to help you make an informed decision when hiring an HVAC contractor.  From certifications to reviews, company history to informative articles.  We know that one of these alone is not enough to give you the full measure of a company, but we hope that collectively you will get a glimpse into our values and why we say You can count on Crane Heating and Air Conditioning for the Highest Degree of Service."
